P-4 series – Flowers

These Delft tiles are directly inspired by an original 17th century set and feature beautifully detailed flowers. Each tile is finished with the iconic ox-head (PCM-20) corner motif and painted in a timeless a classic blue. The photos show the P-4 series on our All-in mix,  complete with a crackled finish and natural pinholes. This is our standard setup, but of course the tiles can be tailored to suit your preferences.

16 unique flower scenes

This series is based on a beautiful set of the antique reclaimed Delft tiles from around 1660, a time when floral motifs were especially popular in Dutch tilemaking. Influenced by botanical illustrations and the fascination with exotic plants during the Dutch Golden Age, these richly detailed flowers became a popular decorative theme among tilemakers of the time. Each scene in this series has been carefully recreated by hand, capturing the charm and character of the originals. It features 16 unique floral designs, including classics like the tulip, the delicate Snake’s Head (Fritillaria), the striking Crown Imperial, and more. With so much variety, these tiles bring a sense of rhythm and discovery to your wall, every glance reveals something new. And because each scene is hand-painted, no two tiles are ever exactly the same, giving your installation a truly personal and one-of-a-kind feel.

Pinholes in the corners

Pinholes were part of the production process before 1860. The tile was cut out of clay and to keep it steady while cutting it, a wooden board was placed on top of it with two, three or sometimes even four pins entering the clay (and thus the tile). Adding this enhancement creates two of these pinholes in each tile. It contributes to the authentic and imperfect look and feel of the tiles.

Crackled finish

Crazing is a phenomenon that produces a network of fine cracks on the surface of Delft tiles (and other ceramics). It happens over time (decades, if not centuries). This enhancement is really a matter of taste, as many consider it to be part of the antique experience, while others prefer a tile without. If you are looking for an aged and imperfect look, it is very much worth adding it.
