P-6 series – Landscapes

These Delft wall tiles are based on original 18th century Delft tiles, featuring Dutch landscapes.  They are decorated with spider corner (PMC-1) motifs and painted in a classic shade of blue. The photos show the P-6 series painted on a mix of shades Poarte-D, Poarte E and Poarte H. They have the crackled finish and pinholes. This is our base configuration, but of course it can be completely fine-tuned to your preferences.

32 unique star motifs

All scenes in this series closely follow the designs from an 18th-century set of reclaimed Delft tiles. There are 32 unique scenes depicting a wide range of landscapes, from houses and villages to birds, wells, bridges, sailing boats, and more. These tiles were inspired by everyday Dutch life, and were sometimes used in kitchens or hallways to bring a sense of the outdoors inside, even on rainy days. With this broad variety, you can create an installation that always offers something new to discover. Each tile is hand-painted, so no two are exactly the same, with subtle differences that add to their charm.

Pinholes in the corners

Before 1860, tile makers used wooden boards with small pins to steady the clay while shaping it, which left pinholes in the surface. Today, we replicate this traditional detail by including two pinholes per tile. As a result, the tiles retain the handcrafted, slightly imperfect charm that defines historic Delft tilework.

Crackled finish

Over time, Delft tiles naturally develop a fine web of surface cracks, known as crazing, which many see as a sign of age and character. To help recreate that aged appearance, we offer a crackled finish as an optional enhancement. While some prefer a cleaner look, this finish adds warmth, depth, and an unmistakably antique feel that suits this series beautifully.

Product disclaimer

We use traditional techniques to make our Delft tiles, and up to five artists may contribute to the painting process. Because of this, slight variations in size, color, and detail are to be expected, and celebrated. Although we don’t offer machine-like perfection, we do uphold a high standard of craftsmanship. These tiles are built to last and will continue to age gracefully for decades, or even centuries, to come.

  • How can the tiles be cleaned?
Clean tile surfaces with a non-abrasive, mild and PH neutral cleaner. Neutral cleaners are devoid of acids, caustics, harsh fillers, or abrasives that could scratch the surface of the tile.
